Bible Presentation Program (Fall 2012)

Each student registered in the program is presented a Bible during the worship service in March. Students in grades four through six are eligible for the program. If you would like your child to receive a Bible in March, please fill out the following information.

Bible Basics Program

Every year students in grades fourth through six at First Church of Christ are given the opportunity to learn more about the Bible than can be covered in Church School on Sunday morning. Since the Bible can be intimidating for a student to pick up and read, the Church School offers this program to help the students become more familiar with their Bible through crafts, games, and movies while building friendships with other students from the church community. All craft materials are provided by the church school for this program.

The meeting dates are typically one Sunday afternoon in each of the following months:

  1. September,  from 3:00 to 5:00pm in Palmer Hall.
  2. October, from 3:00 to 5:00pm, Palmer Hall
  3. January, from 3:00 to 5:00 pm, rm. 33
  4. March,  from 3:00 to 5:00pm, rm. 29
  5. March , Bible Sunday, presentation of Bible during the worship service

The meeting agendas are as follows:

  1. September: Bible format and introduction to the books of Law and History: We will be learning the Bible format by watching clips from "What's in the Bible", learning timeline and "Bible in 50 Words," making Bible division bookmarks, playing scooter games about the Old Testament, working on "Its All About Faith Posters" (which will hang in Palmer Hall on Bible Sunday), and making scripture brownies.

    2.  October:  How the Bible came to be and introduction to the books of Poetry, Wisdom, and Prophets: We will be watching clips from "What's in the Bible", doing an archeological dig in sand to discover Bible facts, making a scroll and learning about the languages in which the Bible was written, participating in a 'how the Bible came to be' scavenger hunt, practicing the Bible in 50 Words, playing Old Testament Bible games and working on "Its All About Faith Posters".

     3. January: Lands of the Bible and introduction to the Gospels: We will be watching a video about the lands of the Bible, drawing and creating 3-d maps of Bible lands using clay dough, playing games to learn the names of significant Bible places, practicing Bible in 50 Words, playing games about the gospels, and working on our "Its All About Faith Posters".

    4. March:  Acts, Letters, Revelation, and Preparation for Bible Sunday: We will be decorating canvas Bible book covers, practicing the Bible in 50 Words,  and play New Testament Bingo and Jeopardy, play Bongo loves the Bible in the computer lab, and finishing the "Its All About Faith Posters".

    5. March:   Students will meet in the youth room at 9:40, review the rap, line up and promenade to church, down the aisle, sitting in the front pews together as a class to receive their Bibles. After the children's sermon they will be dismissed to class with the other students.

We are looking forward to an enjoyable experience learning about the Bible and growing in our knowledge and Christian faith.
