We are very excited about the Youth Music Program here at First.
Music is extremely important in the life of all of us, our kids and
our church, and we want to make sure that the children have as many
available musical opportunities here at First Church as
possible.
Our Junior Choir, children grades 2-6, holds
rehearsals on Monday afternoons for 45 minutes to an hour,
beginning at 4:15. This has become one of the most "happening"
groups for kids in the church. It has turned out to be a wonderful
part of the music program, and more popular with the kids who
participated than we could have ever dreamed.
At each of our rehearsals we sing, explore the chimes, play
games, and have some snacks. In the words of one member - "I
wish we could have choir more than once a week…"
Last year was an awesome year: We presented pieces in Church for
several occasions - including the Christmas pageant, Christmas Eve,
Palm Sunday, not to mention a much raved about choir exchange with
Simsbury Methodist Church. By the end of the year, we were singing
2-part music consistently, with successful forays into 3-part
singing.
We capped the year off with a pizza party at Antonios and a pool
party, where everyone had an excellent time. This year we have some
terrific events scheduled here at First Church, which include
collaborations with other choirs here, and possibly more than one
exchange with the Methodist Church as well. Kids should feel free

The Senior Choir consists of grades 7 through
12. Rehearsal time will be announced by September 30.
