First Church of Simsbury - Opportunities for 8th graders to play, discuss, worship, grow, serve, & love...

Confirmation is our intensive discipling program for 8th graders. Our Confirmation program runs from September through May and utilizes small groups for study, discussion, and fellowship. Confirmation is the time when our young people make the discussion to affirm their baptism and join the church. The Confirmation process is hard work, rewarding, and fun. After a year of small group meetings, trips to Heifer Overlook Farm and our Grandparent Church in Dorchester, and lots of discussion about what it means to be a disciple, our 2010 Confirmands were Confirmed on May 23rd, 2010. Congratulations to you all! We are excited about all that is ahead.

JF (short for Junior Fellowship): JF is our Junior High/Middle School Youth Group and is open to all 7th and 8th graders. JF meets twice per month on Fridays after school until 4pm through June 18. For your convenience, we pick students up in the church bus in front of Henry James. Students who do not attend Henry James are welcome and are encouraged to contact Rev. Kevin by clicking on the "contact us" tab on the left to find the best way to meet up with the group. Please download a permission form in the left tab before attending JF and be sure to check out the schedule below as dates and times can vary due to special events.

Junior High Fellowship: Join us for icebreakers, games, a discussion on a topic, and our traditional candle prayer. Hop a ride to JF on the church bus from HJMS or contact Kevin to coordinate the best way to meet up with the group.

SUMMER MISSION TRIP TO BOSTON, SUNDAY, JUNE 27 thru FRIDAY, JULY 2... Each summer, current 8th through 12th graders are invited to participate in a summer mission trip to serve, learn, and grow in God's compassion and love. Over the years, groups have repaired homes and learned of rural poverty in Tennessee and Ohio, worked at soup kitchens and learned of homelessness in Atlanta and New York City. Year End Celebration Picnic!: We will celebrate a terrific JF year with burgers, dogs, games, and a reflection at McLean Game Refuge. Hop a ride on the church bus from HJMS or contact Kevin to coordinate the best way to meet up with the group. Note the ending time of 5pm instead of 4pm.
